My body was hurting and I was hospitalize (the devil will put roadblocks in front of you, when blessings are coming). Now, I will proclaim that I am healed in the Name of Jesus Christ (life and death is in the power of the tongue).. THANK YA.
Today, I can finish my FASFA application and get ready to do the IT class on line. Because now I can do my lesson anywhere cause my cellular phone can now hook up to my lab top and will have connections. THANK YOU GOD.

Today we recieve the CEU registration forms but have not filled them out yet. We did the GAETI post evaluations. Then we presented our lesson plan to the class and we voted for the favorite overall lesson plan, favorite science, foreign language, and best ePorfolio. We got lunch from Mcallisters and it was good. I had a tuna sandwich. I ate on halve of it. We had an awards ceremony presented by Ms. Lathman presented awards and I received the Miss you award. Ms. Triplett received the Lovable Laughter award and Mrs. V. Jacskson got the balancing award. At the end of the class, I had to reflect to the class on what I learn from this workshop. I was not ready. It was sort of impromptu, but I did great. At lunch we took a group photo and we receive a color photo to take home. Micheal showed us how to do a talking PowerPoint. Dr. Bracey showed us how to do a reminder and ask us to set-up a twitter account. Some technologies are: google plus, blobspot youtube, google earth, google maps, wordle, goFunMe, Magnolia, Prizi, Kidblob, Sykle, Audioboom, Kahoot, manatee, Storify
We added information to the weebly account (youtube: weeble2015 tutorial). Homepage, technology, lesson plans, worksamples, and my blob can be added to the weebly account. I will play with it and have my class to set-up one.
THIS WAS A GREAT WORKSHOP. THANK GOD

Today is Thursday June 11
A lady from Texas came and did a presentation on, "How to Make Technology Meaningful in the Classroom?
PLN means personal or professional Learning Network. Blended Learning is digital (tech) and face-to-face learning combined. We went to the Google drive and explored different things that it can do.
These browsers are: Google chrome is number one. Firefox is number two. Internet explorer is going out of style.
Create your own work (students) and share it. Critical thinking is how is the technology making them think critical
Media Literacy is knowing which (Google chrome, ....etc.) to use
Flip your classroom is put content (lesson) on line so students can review it at home and when they get to school it will be easy to review at school
Digital footprint is if you delete something and it is still "out there. cloud"
Create and edit audio: to put your teaching video so students can view and learn for the next day
Social book-marking to share resources
Livebinders.com is a great cite (sign up for it)
kidblog is the site that I will use (sign-up for it) this site let student work on lessons while you edit it and the students will have a password too.
To share: share, copy link, blog spot (gaeti2015, or site you going to get it from), paste in url, name and submit
If the document will not save: download it, save as, to jump drive, download, open it, enable editing

We went over housekeeping and we talked about ISTE (International Society for Technology and Educators). You have to decide on 1-2 technology to try with your class. You can increase the technology as time pass. Start small, obtain hard/soft/apps and gather ideas and locate resources: http://www.edutopia.org/technology-integration and build your own collections.
Edutopia is a cite for teacher. Technology plannings includes: What studetns will do, what you will do before/during/ater the lesson (account setup) blog....etc. Test on school computer and have a plan B.
Jigsaw: groups, home group, expert group and home group.
We did team based learning which was invented by a medical students
At 11:00 we did smart board training: Google doc is like word:
ctrl V to paste
Ctrl A to copy all
Ctrl C is to copy
2:30 we rename sheet 1 to board games rename next one to questions and answers. We went to page layout (bottom of page) to set margins
Page layout (top of page to set margins. Margins customs set at .45 to .5
center or page click the box horizontally and vertically (when you print they will be the same on both sides
You should have blue questions, red questions......etc
Magic square (at top of excel) it lets you change the width of ABC to so many pixels and number on side
Duplicating a worksheet
Right click on spreadsheet name tab at bottom of page
Move and copy
click copy box
Copy and paste from board game to card backs (car in each box)
Drag across and you wi9ll copy pictures across in the boxes

Monday, June 8, 2015. Second week
This morning we did housekeeping and we reviewed the agenda for today. Lesson Plan was done by backward design and writing performances objectives. Modeling is a way to show the class the end product. We went to Gaeti2015.blogspot.com to practice on clouds. I am not sure to do the cloud, but need more practice. We will go back over this information later this week.
We went over worle which is word clouds (this displays a lot of words and the largest ones is the most talked about. In order for worle to work, you need java. It can also add video, insert words documents, picture and share it....etc.)
We did lesson planning and we look at adapted from fink, LD (2003(. Creating significant Learning Experience, Jossey-bass.
We went to Google and put in lessons plans and it showed all kinds of information that I will use when doing my plans, activities, videos, and other class information. Google (lesson on climate data)
Inquiry standards should be imbedded in your lessons at all times. When planning a lesson you must write the objectives, performance objectives and specific objectives
Linoit.com is a great site for posting notes and putting it in clouds. We did a cloud and talked about it.
We talked about zipgrade. I download it onto my phone and it can be use to print scantrons, grade papers, set-up test, set-up your class and more. Note:
1. new (add a class)
2. Quizzes (number of questions)
3. Edit (pretest)
4. Put in key (edit key (put answers in). (must align the boxes on the grid to your phone)
5. Edit answers (touch blue X)
6. Analyze (to see who miss the same questions)
We built some bridges using the hot glue, wood sticks, cutters, and a template. I came in second place.

Today is Friday and we have done one fourth of our workshop. We did a reflection on what we like about this week. We went over the schedule. At about 9:30 Dr. Bracey talked about 21st century and ask us what does 21st century mean? A website was given. (p21.org)..We started the power point and we look at a graph about 21st century. It is composed of: Learning and innovation: 4`c: Creativity, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration. Life and career skills, Information, media, and technology. Core subjects and 21st century themes and support systems are etc. The 21`st century is supported by many entries such as: McGraw Hill, Lego, Crayola.....etc.
I also learn about soft skills are skills such as behavior related and hard skills are work related. Soft skills are hard to teach and assess while hard skills are easy to teach and assess.
Open dialogue is to talk about the lesson. One must have good ethics and work as a team. We should also give citizenship or student of the week awards.
At 1:00 we had a crowdsouring for educators. Two cites: Donor choose and gofundme were two cites that can help teacher get money. Donor choose you have to write a proposal and it uses a point system, and have a promo code. The Gofundme is easily to get. You do not have to write a proposal and it does not have a point system and the money goes to your bank account, but 5% goes to the people who oversee the money.

Today at about 9:00 to 9:15 we went over the agenda and we wrote questions about what we wanted to know about the Red Hills Lignite Coal mine in Ackerman, Mississippi and we wrote a question about what our students will ask about the mine. At about 9:15 we rode to the Red Hills mine. Jeremy drove us to the mine. Rebecca McGrew, an Environmental Manager did the PowerPoint and the lab with us. We took a tour of the mine and we can back to the learning center (mine) and did a lab. The title of the lab was, Porosity, Permeability and Moisture Retention. I learn that porosity is void volume/ total volume. and permeability is the ability of a group of sediments to transmit fluid. I hypothesized that the gravel is more porous and the sand is less porous. After the experiment, clay has the highest porosity (absorbed more water), peat, gravel, pea gravel and sand had the lowest porosity. I learn if a substance has a high porous, then it has a low permeability. Therefore, clay had the lowest permeability (absorb less water) followed by: peat, gravel, pea gravel and sand had the highest permeability. We got back to MSU at about 4:30. Today was a good day. THANK YOU FOR THIS GREAT WORKSHOP

Day 3, June 3, 2015
At 9:00 Vinnie Segalini, Department of Education talked about CCS. He said, "anyone can give suggestions about the site". EQUIP means Education Evaluating Quality Instructional Products
Four Rubric Dimensions: 1. Alignment to the depth of Ms. CCRS. 2. Key Shifts in the Ms ccrs. 3. Instructional supports. 4. Assessment-no multiply choice
Review Process-five steps. 1. Review materials. 2. Apply criteria in dimension 1. Apply criteria in dimension 2-4. 4. Apply overall rating and provide summary comments. 5. Compare overall ratings and determine next steps.
Talk about background knowledge to get them interested
1:00
Geocaching scavenger hunt
3:00
Exe means all games
PowerPoint: put find your game. Play it. screen grad it-(PrtScn)
CTRL plus V-it will take the game and put it under screen grab
Puzzle maker quizlet are great sites

Day 2, June 2, 2015
I came in at about 9:15 and went into the library and Dr.
Morris was helping with the Google map and the Google earth. The speaker talked very fast and I did not
get anything out of this session. But we
will get a handout for it. After this session, we went upstairs and the speaker
let us watch a video and toured the works of Tinley. At 1:00 Dr. Morris did the Geologic
Time. We compared the Earth geological
time with the pages of a book. The Earth
is billions of years old and I learn the inside of rocks at the bottom are the
older rocks and at the top are the younger rocks. Formation of the Earth and the moon is about
4,600,000,000 years old and land plants are about 420,000,000 years old. Learning about events and when they happened
helps us to learn about history. We had
to order events along a timeline and I got them wrong. In order to convert data you have to select
the box (D3) with the units you want to convert from and put it in the box you
want the data to go in. Then you write the
formula for converting it (= D3/12)
Michael Murphy spoke to us about “The long Civil Rights
Movement”. He talked about segregation,
Jim Crow laws, Booker T. Washington, and W.E.B Du Bois in which he wanted civil
rights for all Americans. Duke
University has put out “Behind the Veil” that is composed of several different
during interviews. Founder of the NAACP
was WEB Du Bois in Canada.
Dr. Morris helped us with excel and latitude and longitude
and she gave us blow-up globes and an atlas to keep.

Day one: June 1, 2015
GAETI, Global Academic Essentials Teacher Institute is a two year old workshop help at Mississippi State University with Doctor Pamela Bracey and other instructors facilitate this workshop. This workshop goes 22 days and two weekend and we get paid twice for this workshop (woo). I learn that common core will be changed to: Mississippi College and Career Readiness Standards and we get ten CEU`s for this workshop.
I also learn that the course is the largest, followed by strands, competence (bold print), , objectives, and DOK is the last of the Mississippi frameworks. I have an acronym for it: C, S, C, O, D. The Mississippi frameworks will be revised every six years and it takes three years to do it ( a writing team will form it).
We went to the library and Dr. Beth show us how to use MAGNOLIA web site. Dr. Beth talked very fast and I got very tired and bored. We stayed there for about one hour. We also used ask-a-library (anyone in the state can use this site at any school, public library, college, or university and it has a password that cannot be given out to the public)
The last thing we did, we went back to the computer room to learn how to set-up another email site: samgilkey1gmail.com and samgilkey2gmail.com and my password is the same for both of them. We learn how to set-up a blob account and reflected on what we learn for this day. THIS WAS A GREAT DAY.
90,000 grant from the Mississippi of Institute of Higher Learning. The site to enter licensure information is: Mississippi Educator Licensure Management System
